Mental Training Technique Program


MENATL REHEARSAL TECHNIQUE NUMBER

 

The Modified "Quick Set" routine (developed by Jeff Simons, psychologists)

 

The "Quick Set" routine, which involves physical, emotional and focus cues, can also be used as a means of refocusing quickly following a distraction.

 

  • Close your eyes, clear your mind and maintain deep rhythmical breathing, in through your nose and out through your mouth (physical cue)

 

  • Imagine a previous successful lift, see yourself finishing the lift strongly and recreate those emotional feelings of success (emotional cue)

 

  • Return your focus to the lift you are about to do and  think of strongly lifting off with the appropriate physical action (focus cue)

 

  • Begin to HATE the bar….let the feeling of hate manifest into a controlled aggression

 

  • Repeat to yourself, while looking at the bar ‘you are nothing, you are nothing, I am stronger, you are nothing’
